After a week of relative warmth, with temperatures well into the 40s, cold weather has returned to Milbank.
This past week's IBM Challenge on Jeopardy! was certainly impressive. First a computer beats a world chess champion, and now a computer has defeated two men at television's most popular quiz show. It's unfortunate that Concentration has been out of production for 20 years, as it would be equally impressive, if not more so, to see a computer like Watson or Deep Blue solve partly hidden rebus puzzles.
